Jail History and Structure

In 1976, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Philippi. The justice center houses the Barbour County county sheriff, Philippi police department offices, and the Barbour County Jail. The Barbour County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Barbour County Jail. Originally, the Barbour County Jail could house approximately 1801 inmates.
