Jail History and Structure

In 1988, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Martinsburg. The justice center houses the Berkeley County county sheriff, Martinsburg police department offices, and the Berkeley County Jail. The Berkeley County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Berkeley County Jail. Originally, the Berkeley County Jail could house approximately 1410 inmates.
