Jail History and Structure

In 1977, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Wheeling. The justice center houses the Ohio County county sheriff, Wheeling police department offices, and the Ohio County Jail. The Ohio County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Ohio County Jail. Originally, the Ohio County Jail could house approximately 1586 inmates.

Over the years, the Ohio County Jail has undergone numerous modifications and eventually became one of the largest facilities in the Ohio County county.

Juvenile Detention Center
