Jail History and Structure

In 1990, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Hinton. The justice center houses the Summers County county sheriff, Hinton police department offices, and the Summers County Jail. The Summers County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Summers County Jail. Originally, the Summers County Jail could house approximately 2268 inmates.

Over the years, the Summers County Jail has undergone numerous modifications and eventually became one of the largest facilities in the Summers County county.
