Jail History and Structure

In 1988, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Hayward. The justice center houses the Sawyer County county sheriff, Hayward police department offices, and the Sawyer County Jail. The Sawyer County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Sawyer County Jail. Originally, the Sawyer County Jail could house approximately 1496 inmates.
