Jail History and Structure

In 1986, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Shell Lake. The justice center houses the Washburn County county sheriff, Shell Lake police department offices, and the Washburn County Jail. The Washburn County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Washburn County Jail. Originally, the Washburn County Jail could house approximately 1881 inmates.
