Jail History and Structure
In 1986, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Gainesville. The justice center houses the Hall County county sheriff, Gainesville police department offices, and the Hall County Female Work Release. The Hall County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Hall County Female Work Release. Originally, the Hall County Female Work Release could house approximately 1936 inmates.
