Jail History and Structure

In 1979, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Finley. The justice center houses the Steele County county sheriff, Finley police department offices, and the Steele County Jail. The Steele County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Steele County Jail. Originally, the Steele County Jail could house approximately 1873 inmates.

Over the years, the Steele County Jail has undergone numerous modifications and eventually became one of the largest facilities in the Steele County county.
