Jail History and Structure

In 1980, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Alva. The justice center houses the Woods County county sheriff, Alva police department offices, and the Woods County Jail. The Woods County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Woods County Jail. Originally, the Woods County Jail could house approximately 1729 inmates.

Over the years, the Woods County Jail has undergone numerous modifications and eventually became one of the largest facilities in the Woods County county.
