Jail History and Structure
In 1986, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Salem. The justice center houses the Marion County county sheriff, Salem police department offices, and the Marion County Work Release Center. The Marion County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Marion County Work Release Center. Originally, the Marion County Work Release Center could house approximately 1706 inmates.

Juvenile Detention Center
