Jail History and Structure

In 1978, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Chamberlain. The justice center houses the Brule County county sheriff, Chamberlain police department offices, and the Brule County Jail. The Brule County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Brule County Jail. Originally, the Brule County Jail could house approximately 1590 inmates.
