Jail History and Structure
In 1978, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Cookeville. The justice center houses the Putnam County county sheriff, Cookeville police department offices, and the Putnam County Jail. The Putnam County county sheriff is the general overseer of the Putnam County Jail. Originally, the Putnam County Jail could house approximately 2410 inmates.
Over the years, the Putnam County Jail has undergone numerous modifications and eventually became one of the largest facilities in the Putnam County county.
Juvenile Detention Center
