Jail History and Structure

In 1981, a criminal justice center was constructed in downtown Ashley. The justice center houses the McIntosh County county sheriff, Ashley police department offices, and the McIntosh County Jail. The McIntosh County county sheriff is the general overseer of the McIntosh County Jail. Originally, the McIntosh County Jail could house approximately 1561 inmates.

Over the years, the McIntosh County Jail has undergone numerous modifications and eventually became one of the largest facilities in the McIntosh County county.
